Job summary

University of Minnesota is seeking an Electrical Inspector to enforce the Minnesota Electrical Code across university properties in the Twin Cities and statewide. The role includes on-site inspections, plan review coordination, and ensuring life safety and code compliance in complex facilities.

Responsibilities cover field reviews, documentation, and collaboration with designers, engineers, and facilities managers to uphold standards in educational and research environments.

Qualifications

• Current Minnesota Master or Journeyman Electrical License with ability to obtain Masters within 1 year of hire.
• An Associate's or vocational technical degree with at least seven years of related experience in commercial/institutional plan review, electrical inspection, and commercial construction, or BA/BS plus at least five years of experience.
• A valid class D Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site construction inspections and record results in permit software system.
• Perform field inspections for permitted projects located in the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota as needed.
• Document and initiate corrective action to enforce code compliance.
• Maintain daily inspection logs and related records for efficient record keeping.
• Inspect electrical systems to ensure work complies with Minnesota Electrical Code.
