Job summary

Bates College in Maine is seeking a Commons Associate - Service to support the dining program serving thousands daily. This full-time, year-round role focuses on front-line service, food safety and positive interactions with a diverse campus community.

Responsibilities include assisting on food stations, overseeing beverage areas, cashiering, ensuring sanitation, and collaborating with Dining and Campus Events to maintain exceptional service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.

• Strong commitment to customer service.
• Exemplary organizational and time management skills required.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-volume food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists on the food platforms.
• Oversees beverage stations.
• Restocks the choices and cereal areas.
• Assists with cashiering.
• Assists with building duties, room set-ups, etc.
• Ensures that proper sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
• Promotes and values diversity and practices two-way communication.
• Develops strong working relationships with other Dining areas and the institution.
• Maintains the highest levels of customer service at all times.
• Attends Dining, Conferences and Campus Events town meetings and sector meetings.
