Job summary

Michigan State University in East Lansing is looking to hire a Dining Service Worker I to support dining operations in our university residential halls. You will greet students and guests, assist with meal preparation, and help ensure a positive dining experience across service lines.

You will collaborate with a culinary team, practice safe food handling, and deliver friendly service in a fast-paced campus setting while supporting a diverse campus community.

Qualifications

• Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques.
• One-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
• Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.
• Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.

Responsibilities

• Prep, organize, and stock salad bars, hot and cold food stations, and made-to-order service lines.
• Work with the culinary team to portion dishes and serve guests directly from active stations.
• Apply proper food handling and storage techniques to reduce waste and prevent spoilage.
• Provide a welcoming, friendly face to the diverse MSU community.
