Job summary

The Sous Chef at the University of California, Berkeley manages all aspects of food service in a dining operation, including the preparation, serving, and presentation of meals; leads production staff and ensures health and safety guidelines are followed.

You will work with the General Manager or Executive Chef, oversee training, plan schedules, and coordinate catering and special events, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer service across campus facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist unit executive chef and managers in staff activities and kitchen operations.
• Performs audits to ensure compliance with food prep, quality control standards as well as safety and security standards; manage special dietary requests.
• Manage menu production for catering and other special events; adjust production to meet service needs.
