Job summary

Thompson Hospitality is seeking a Service Manager to lead the front-of-house team at Virginia State University’s campus dining operations. You will drive excellent guest experiences, uphold service standards, and collaborate with kitchen and procurement to ensure smooth service and inventory control.

The role requires supervisory experience in high-volume food service, strong communication, and the ability to work varied shifts in a dynamic campus environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field or equivalent experience.
• Supervisory experience in high-volume food service.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficient with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to stand 8–10 hours and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including events.
• Ability to navigate campus locations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and uphold high standards of customer service and ensure a positive dining experience.
• Oversee training, scheduling, and performance of service staff.
• Ensure compliance with service guidelines and monitor service levels.
• Address customer complaints promptly and effectively.
• Collaborate with kitchen and procurement teams to manage service inventory.
