Thompson Hospitality seeks a Service Manager to lead our campus dining team at Virginia State University, ensuring a welcoming, high-quality guest experience. You will supervise service staff, coordinate with kitchen and procurement, and maintain service standards across all venues.

The role emphasizes customer service excellence, staff development, and strict adherence to protocols in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to impact student, faculty, and staff dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field or equivalent experience.
• Proven supervisory experience in a high-volume customer-facing environment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with issue-resolution ability.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities for peak service periods.
• Proficient in POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to stand/walk 8–10 hours daily and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must navigate campus locations and adapt to varying event setups.

Responsibilities

• Lead front-of-house operations to ensure friendly, efficient service.
• Train, schedule and evaluate service staff; promote teamwork and standards.
• Ensure compliance with service policies and maintain quality standards.
• Address customer complaints promptly with effective resolution.
• Collaborate with kitchen and procurement to manage service-related inventory.
