Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed, part of Compass Group USA, is seeking an Executive Chef to oversee kitchen operations at our on-campus dining venues. You will plan menus, direct meal preparation, and ensure safety and sanitation practices across the staff.

The ideal candidate has hands-on chef experience, 5+ years in large-scale foodservice, strong leadership, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. This position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• A.S. or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
• Extensive catering experience a plus
• High volume, complex foodservice operations experience
• Institutional and batch cooking experiences
• Hands-on chef experience a must
• Knowledge of food and catering trends, including cost controls and presentation
• Proficient with computers including MS Office and email tools
• Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities
• ServSafe certification desirable

Responsibilities

• Plans regular and modified menus according to guidelines
• Follows recipes, portions, and presentation standards; uses production worksheets and waste logs
• Trains kitchen staff in food prep, safety, and sanitation
• Maintains cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and areas
• Maintains inventory of food and non-food supplies
• Decides on leftover food utilization within company guidelines
• Complies with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
• Follows safety policies; participates in meetings and development programs
