Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education, part of Compass Group USA, seeks a Dining Services Director for The George Washington University in Washington, DC. The role drives the successful operation of Dining Services, ensuring client and customer satisfaction through cost-effective management and strong food safety practices.

The Director will oversee salaried managers and hourly staff, manage budgets, and ensure HACCP and OSHA standards are met while fostering a high-performance team and excellent service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or AA degree with four years related experience.
• Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, and cost controls.
• Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable.
• Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages salaried managers and hourly associates in the Food Service Department.
• Oversees the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account.
• Interviews, hires, and trains associates; plans, assigns, and directs work; evaluates performance; rewards and disciplines.
• Prepares and manages annual budget.
• Utilizes company systems for required daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, cash reports, payroll, etc.).
• Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items per standards (HACCP/OSHA) and portion control.
• Other duties as assigned.
