Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed, a Compass Group USA partner, seeks an Assistant Manager at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, to lead daily dining operations ensuring safety, organization, and guest satisfaction. You will oversee staffing, onboarding, training, and service excellence while coordinating with the Director of Dining Services.

You will develop a high-performing team, supervise associates, and ensure compliance with food safety and workplace standards in a fast-paced campus

Qualifications

• Previous management or supervisory experience required.
• Strong computer and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment.
• Food service or hospitality industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations, staffing, and shift execution to ensure efficient service.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to associates while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and development of team members, ensuring all required training and certifications are completed on time.
• Monitor food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards, addressing concerns as needed.
• Ensure dining and production areas remain clean, organized, and service-ready.
• Communicate scheduling updates, operational needs, and department priorities with associates and management.
• Complete operational documentation, follow-up tasks, and required reports accurately and on time.
• Support staffing needs and assist in operational areas when necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding employee matters, management discussions, and HR-related issues.
• Serve as a key holder and support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
