Job summary

Vanir is a leading PMCM and real estate development firm. The Design Manager will lead all design-related activities for college campus capital projects, directing pre-construction and design phases to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to District standards and regulatory requirements, including DSA coordination.

You will act as the primary liaison between the Capital Program Team and the Design Team, guiding scope, schedule, and budgets while managing design deliverables and processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or related field.
• At least 10 years of full-time experience managing facilities design or capital improvement projects, including K-14 or higher education facilities.
• Experience in design management, contract administration, cost estimating and project scheduling.
• At least 5 years in design, planning, and construction of educational facilities including DSA/OSHPD/HCAi involvement.
• Strong knowledge of DSA requirements and California Public Contract Code provisions.
• Current and valid architectural license issued by State Architectural Board.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full design life-cycle for Campus Projects, from planning through close-out and DSA certification.
• Provide pre-construction and phase management services, including QA/QC.
• Serve as primary liaison between CPT and Design Team for coordination and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with CPT, design consultants, and District stakeholders to define scope and resolve design issues.
• Manage design process to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant production and approvals.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of plans, specs, schedules and other design documents for quality and constructability.
• Provide clear direction on project goals, District standards, site requirements, schedules, and budgets.
• During construction, review CCDs for completeness and compliance and manage DSA submittals.
• Guide the Design Team through DSA process and report on impacts of design changes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Engineering/Urban Planning/Construction Management

10+ years in facilities design management/capital improvement

DSA/OSHPD/HCAi certification experience

Architectural license
