Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks a Director of Design and Construction Services to lead the department overseeing major and minor capital projects from inception to completion. This global role includes environmental, regulatory, and fiscal planning responsibilities and ensures adherence to CSU guidelines and audit standards.

The position requires extensive leadership, regulatory knowledge, and project management experience in a university setting; LEED/AP or DBIA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• Master's degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum five years supervisory experience required.
• Previous higher education or institutional project management experience preferred.
• LEED AP certification preferred.
• DBIA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Design and Construction Services staff, projects, department budget and consultants; serve as Campus Leader for DCS.
• Develop and communicate the strategic vision for the Design and Construction Services Department.
• Manage selection processes for Architect/Engineer, Contractor, Design-Builder and other consultants; ensure capital procurement follows policy and regulation.
• Develop and implement campus design standards and construction guidelines; ensure adherence to industry standards and audits.
• Facilitate development of design and project/construction management processes to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management OR related field

Master's degree in related field
