Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking a Director of Design & Construction Services to provide leadership for major and minor capital projects from inception to completion. The role oversees environmental, regulatory, and fiscal planning for capital programs and leads selection processes for architects, engineers, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management OR related field; ten years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in a related field.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum five years supervisory experience required, preferably in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Design and Construction Services staff, projects, department budget, and consultants; serve as Campus Leader for DCS.
• Develop and communicate the strategic vision for the DCS Department.
• Oversee selection processes for Architect/Engineer, Contractor, Design-Builder and other consultants; ensure capital procurement follows policy and regulation.
• Develop and implement campus design standards and construction guidelines; maintain quality control and improve project delivery methods.
• Facilitate design and project/construction management processes to ensure on-time, on-budget completion compliant with codes and regulations.
