Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President ofBeach Building Services, the Director, Design and ConstructionServices (DDCS) is responsible for the overall leadership,direction, and coordination of the design and construction of allmajor and minor capital projects. The DDCS is also responsible forthe environmental, regulatory, and fiscal capital planningfunctions for capital projects from inception through completion ofconstruction.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and results oriented leaderwith a proven ability to build effective partnerships acrossfunctional areas and with individuals from diverse backgrounds andareas of expertise. They have successfully implemented programs andpractices that enhance service delivery and organizational valuewith strong technical expertise, presentation skills, and excellentinterpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities. Thesuccessful candidate possesses thorough knowledge of Californiabuilding, construction, maintenance, and repair regulations,including state building codes, fire codes, ADA requirements, andindustry standards, as well as a strong understanding ofconstruction methods, building costs, and public works contracting.They demonstrate proficiency in interpreting blueprints andspecifications, working knowledge of CAD/Revit applications, andexpertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously whileworking independently and remaining highly organized andself-motivated. The ideal candidate is skilled at representing thedivision professionally with the Chancellor's Office and externalagencies, advocating for campus facilities needs and design andconstruction priorities, and effectively engaging with executiveleadership and a broad range of stakeholders within a sharedgovernance environment.
