Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and safety of school facilities. Under supervision of the Principal, you will perform general cleaning, grounds maintenance, and basic repairs, ensuring a healthy learning environment.

You will handle ladders, cleaning equipment, and supply inventory, with potential overtime and a 240-day term. A valid Alabama driver's license is required, and experience in janitorial tasks is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and products.
• Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy objects.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to communicate with supervisor and co-workers.
• Reading skills to understand written instructions.
• Knowledge of electrical, carpentry, and plumbing basics.
• Possess Alabama Driver's License.
• Willing to work overtime.
• Any combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, lunchrooms, gyms, lobbies, and restrooms.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip and wax floors.
• Clean windows, mirrors, walls, and fixtures.
• Perform grounds maintenance including mowing and trimming.
• Handle basic repairs to buildings and equipment.
• Supervise student or temporary workers when assigned.
