Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is hiring a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and upkeep of school facilities. Responsibilities span general cleaning, ground maintenance, building/equipment upkeep, and miscellaneous tasks under supervision of the principal.

Candidates should be able to operate cleaning equipment, perform basic repairs, and ensure safe handling of chemicals and waste. Salary is determined by the Limestone County Board of Education schedule; 240-day employment term; applicants

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and products.
• Ability to climb ladders, push, lift, bend, and carry.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in custodian/maintenance work.
• Ability to communicate with supervisor and co-workers.
• Reading to understand written instructions; writing to order supplies.
• Ability to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• General Cleaning: offices, lunchrooms, gyms, classrooms, lobbies, halls, restrooms.
• Ground Maintenance: mow, rake leaves, trim shrubs, maintain campus grounds.
• Building/Equipment Maintenance: minor electrical/plumbing repairs and lighting replacements.
• Miscellaneous: move furniture, load supplies, supervise student workers, maintain records.
• Summer Cleaning: strip and wax floors, clean fixtures, supervise possible staff.
• Work Environment and Safety: handle chemicals and waste safely.
