Job summary

The University of Rhode Island is seeking a dedicated Custodian to perform cleaning and custodial tasks across campus facilities in Kingston, RI. The role includes floor care, restroom maintenance, and assisting with room setups for events and classes.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a full-time, year-round schedule. Applicants should have basic education and custodial experience; a pre-employment background check will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment, materials and methods used in cleaning and custodial work.
• Ability to understand and carry out simple directions.
• Experience in basic cleaning and custodial tasks may be gained through education or work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces in university facilities.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Move office furniture when needed and assist in setup of conference rooms.
• Report safety issues and maintenance needs.
• Perform basic cleaning of restrooms and common areas.
• Assist with lawn and grounds related tasks as directed.
