Job summary

William & Mary is seeking a Custodial Worker to maintain campus cleanliness and safety for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Duties include cleaning restrooms, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and handling floor finishes; respond to service requests and secure buildings after hours.

The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, tolerate extreme temperatures, and perform outdoor and indoor cleaning tasks. Overtime is possible during peak periods and winter operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to operate powered and non-powered cleaning equipment and learn heavy floor care equipment.
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals including dilution and dispensing systems.
• Capable of working outdoors in cold and indoors in hot conditions.
• Stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, and climb stairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general custodial and cleaning duties for campus facilities.
• Meet APPA cleanliness standards and maintain safe, healthy environment.
• Clean restrooms, windows, fixtures, and floors; empty trash and recycling.
• Respond to service requests and report damages or repairs.
• Work outside for snow/ice removal and secure buildings when not in use.
