Job summary

Sodexo at University of Maine at Farmington is seeking a Cook to prepare, portion, cook and present hot and cold items for all meals and events. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient food production while maintaining a clean, organized workstation.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent, 0–2 years related experience, and the ability to read and follow recipes and instructions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow basic recipes and directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements and check production and supplies to plan production accurately.
• Significant walking or other mobility required; stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; perform repetitive motions.
