Sodexo at the University of Maine at Orono is seeking a Cook to prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold dishes across meals and events. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, ensuring safety, quality, and sanitation while supporting team operations and a high-level dining experience for guests.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 0–2 years of related experience, and the ability to read recipes and follow instructions precisely.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsabilités

• Prepare food in accordance with federal, state and corporate standards to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow recipes and directions for soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other items.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility; maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and uphold sanitation standards.
• Support kitchen teamwork and adapt to client requirements.
