Job summary

Sodexo, working at SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY, invites applications for a Cook I. You will prepare, portion, cook and present a variety of hot and cold items for meals and events while following Sodexo culinary standards in a fast-paced kitchen.

This full-time role offers weekday afternoon/evening shifts, a pay range of $14.47 to $19.54 per hour, and benefits including PTO, medical/dental/vision, and tuition reimbursement, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, cooking, and serving items.
• Taste products, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods; shifts may exceed 8 hours.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Attend work on schedule and be punctual.
