Job summary

Sodexo at Fort Valley State University is hiring a part-time Cook to prepare and present hot and cold items for meals and events in a fast-paced kitchen. You will follow recipes, maintain food safety standards, and keep a clean workstation.

You bring a High School diploma or equivalent, up to 2 years of related kitchen experience, and ability to read and follow recipes. Flexible shifts, competitive hourly pay ($14.00–$15.00), and benefits offered where applicable are provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow recipes and directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records to plan production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• May stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
