Job summary

Bennington College is seeking an experienced carpenter for a full-time, year‑round role on campus. The position handles interior and exterior carpentry across dorms, offices, and facilities, following blueprints and safety standards.

The hourly pay is $30.63, with a benefits package including PTO, health, dental, life, disability, retirement with match, and educational benefits for employee and family. Overtime and weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; carpentry training preferred.
• 5+ years of carpentry or building trades experience; 7+ years preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of required safety trainings.
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics and perform precise measurements.
• Proficient with basic computer use (email, word processing).

Responsibilities

• Manage interior and exterior carpentry on new and existing structures from plan to finish.
• Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob and level; measure and lay out work.
• Maintain/repair doors, windows, floors, walls, and exterior woodwork with hand/power tools.
• Install/finish drywall, paneling, and flooring; repair defects as needed.
• Study blueprints and specs to prepare project layout and material orders.
• Ensure safety, follow College safety classes, and support emergency responses.
