Job summary

UMBC's OCA Mocha is seeking a Food Service Specialist - General Manager to provide operational leadership for daily café activities. You will supervise staff, manage scheduling and training, and ensure compliance with university and Health Department standards, serving as the primary liaison between OCA Mocha and UMBC leadership.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in food service, café, hospitality, or retail operations.
• Baltimore County Certified Food Service Manager Certification or ability to obtain it upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily café functions and oversee service execution.
• Lead, mentor and support Shift Leads, Service Leads, and Product Leads.
• Enforce food safety standards, sanitation guidelines, and Health Department regulations.
• Oversee scheduling inputs and real-time labor coverage adjustments.
• Drive recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance support for café staff.
• Communicate operational needs and performance concerns to UMBC leadership.
