James Madison University is seeking motivated and dependable students to join our Operations team as Building Managers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Building Managers support events, assist guests, operate facility technology, respond to operational needs, and contribute to a positive experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Hours typically range from 5-15 hours per week, with evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular facility walkthroughs.
• Opening, managing, and closing the facility.
• Preparing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment and operational technology used for meetings and events.
• Providing exceptional customer service to students, guests, colleagues, and campus partners through effective communication and problem-solving.
• Monitoring facility conditions and responding appropriately to operational issues, customer concerns, and unexpected situations.
• Supporting successful events by assisting with room setups, event logistics, and facility operations.
• Working independently while collaborating effectively with student and professional staff to achieve team and facility goals.
• Demonstrating professionalism, dependability, adaptability, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
• Learning and consistently applying departmental policies, procedures, and operational expectations.
• Providing peer leadership during assigned shifts by modeling expectations, communicating priorities, and supporting fellow student employees.
• Completing assigned responsibilities that may include moderate to heavy lifting and supporting a varied event schedule.
