Job summary

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking a Senior Housekeeping Team Leader for the night shift to supervise a crew of custodians, coordinate cleaning projects, and ensure safety and quality standards across campus facilities. This full-time role requires strong communication, physical stamina, leadership, and the ability to manage schedules and materials.

Night shift runs Tuesday through Saturday 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with overtime as needed for events.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding duties.
• Ability to handle industrial-strength chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
• Ability to lead a small crew and manage time to meet schedules.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and basic customer service concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the supervisor and acts as back-up.
• Leads and coordinates a minimum of 4 custodians.
• Coordinates special projects with building coordinators (floor cleans, events, moves).
• Prepares work orders and requisitions for supplies and equipment.
• Performs regular and special cleaning of assigned areas.
• Adheres to university safety procedures and recycling program.
