Job summary

James Madison University is accepting applications for a part-time Housekeeping Worker for the night shift, Sunday through Thursday, 10:30 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. Part-time staff can work up to 29 hours per week.

The role involves performing regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment, following safety procedures, and participating in trash/recycling programs. A criminal background check is required for employment.

Qualifications

• Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens and ability to use strong chemicals to clean.
• A positive attitude and a desire to work together to keep the facilities of the JMU campus welcoming and beautiful are essential.
• Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university's trash/recycling program.
