Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Irvine, CA, is seeking a Retail General Manager to lead the UC Irvine campus bookstore. You will oversee daily operations, drive sales, manage staff, and strengthen campus relations with faculty and students.

As store leader, you will ensure safety, merchandising standards, and excellent customer service while delivering measurable results for the bookstore and the school. Strong supervisory experience and a business mindset are valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' supervisory experience in a retail setting preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• Bachelor's in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
• Leadership experience to direct and develop a workforce of managers and sales associates.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills to manage campus relationships and corporate initiatives while achieving customer sales and service goals.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations, financial results, merchandising, and campus relations.
• Build relationships with campus community and Corporate Office partners to optimize store performance.
• Coach and develop store team to deliver customer experiences and drive sales.
• Drive sales, customer service, and store traffic through effective leadership.
