Job summary

Sodexo at Western Colorado University in Colorado is hiring a Baker to prepare baked goods following recipes and production specifications. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and shifts that include mornings, afternoons, and some weekends/holidays.

You will follow culinary standards to ensure top quality, set up and stock the bake shop, and support a pastry program while maintaining safety and cleanliness in a busy kitchen.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 1 year of related work experience.
• Experience in a specialized bakery or pastry role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare baked items from scratch.
• Accurately weigh and measure ingredients, mix doughs and batters, shape and bake items to perfection.
• Regulate oven temperatures, monitor baking times, and ensure products are properly cooked and held at correct temperatures.
• Set up and stock the bake shop area, maintain proper storage, rotation, labeling and dating of all products, and keep the bakery clean.
• Pay attention to detail, accommodate special requests, and ensure only high-quality items leave the kitchen.
• Significant walking or other mobility; enjoy a fast-paced bakery environment.
