Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is seeking an AV support technician to assist in set-up and operation of campus AV equipment for lectures and events. You will help with virtual events, coordinate laptop imaging, and manage loaned devices for students and staff.

You will troubleshoot AV and IT issues, ensure imaging protocols are followed, and support front-office operations with AV services. This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree and 2+ years in Communications, AV Tech, or Video Production.
  • Hands-on AV setup with laptops, projectors, displays, audio, mics.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, OS, and peripherals.
  • Willingness to learn computer imaging processes.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Customer-service oriented with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Lift and transport up to 50 lbs; flexible with evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and operation of AV equipment for events across campus.
  • Support virtual events as needed.
  • Coordinate laptop imaging and manage loaned devices.
  • Ensure staff follow reimaging protocols.
  • Create AV equipment reservations and coordinate loans.
  • Manage inventory and reservation system for AV gear.
