Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin on the UT Main Campus seeks an Audio Visual Systems Support Technician to maintain and troubleshoot multimedia technology across liberal arts classrooms and spaces. This on-campus role supports students and faculty with AV systems in General Purpose Classrooms and departmental spaces.

The position requires installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of AV equipment, training and supervising student workers, and occasional on-call support.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the skilled construction and maintenance of audio/visual equipment.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• High school graduation or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• More than four years of experience in the skilled maintenance and repair of multimedia equipment.
• Experience supervising student employees.
• Experience with video-conferencing, distance learning, and lecture capture solutions.
• Experience maintaining Crestron-controlled AV systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain and support audio/visual and AV control system equipment.
• Provide technical assistance in planning, construction, repair, and renovation of classroom technology systems.
• Identify and repair faults within complex audio/visual systems.
• Assist faculty and classroom users with operation of multimedia and computer systems.
• Assist in training and supervising a team of student employees.
• Provide on-call telephone and technical support to classroom users.
• Assist with management of inventory in Liberal Arts technology classrooms.
• Other related functions as assigned.
