The role emphasizes troubleshooting, repairs, and providing exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, and community. You will collaborate with UMKC's Information Services to meet support needs and manage AV equipment inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of related work experience with projection, sound engineering, live event support (audiovisual), control systems and related audiovisual technologies.
• Knowledge of electronics principles and ability to repair/operate AV equipment.
• Ability to operate and instruct others in operation of AV equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Good organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to explain complex information and technologies in simple terms.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and operate AV systems.
• Instruct students, faculty, staff and the public on safe use of AV equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and adjust audiovisual equipment (projectors, cameras, microphones, PA systems).
• Assist and supervise repairs by internal or external technicians.
• Participate in projects beyond standard duties (video production, lectern computer maintenance).
• Operate specialized technician-assisted classroom and laboratory technology.
• Inspect equipment regularly and perform preventative maintenance.
• Communicate progress on technology issues to faculty and staff.
• Assist users on AV equipment and systems usage.
• Assist with development of documentation on AV usage.
• Manage AV equipment inventory.
• Other duties as assigned.
