Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking an AV & Desktop Support Specialist to manage front-line and escalated support for classroom, event, and end-user technologies across campus.

The role installs, supports, and troubleshoots audiovisual and collaboration systems, while providing desktop support for Windows and macOS devices and peripherals. Collaboration with multiple teams is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least 2 years in desktop/end-user support and 2 years in AV/classroom tech.
• Proficient with Windows 11 and macOS, plus remote support tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams or Zoom and room peripherals.
• Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid classroom and event space support to minimize downtime.
• Perform AV checks, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting; coordinate vendors.
• Support academic events, including hybrid events, trainings, and temporary AV setups.
• Respond to tickets, diagnose issues, document resolutions and inventory.
• Maintain room documentation and basic user training; suggest improvements.
• Participate in on-call or after-hours support for classroom uptime.
