Job summary

University of Iowa Facilities Management seeks an Area Manager, Building Operations & Maintenance to oversee maintenance and building systems for GEF facilities on the University of Iowa and Oakdale campus. The role plans, organizes, directs, and controls resources following Reliability Centered Maintenance practices.

Location is Iowa City Campus with a schedule of 8:00am-4:30pm. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing budgets, ensuring safety, and delivering high-quality service to

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
5–7 years of professional experience in skilled trades or general construction.
1+ year supervisory experience with planning and management duties.
Strong customer service mindset and teamwork.
Proven ability to use CMMS tools, preferably AiM.

Responsibilities

Establish structure to accomplish strategic plan requirements and monitor implementation.
Engage lifecycle cost principles across projects in the designated area.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training of staff; promote development.
Build and maintain productive customer relationships and communicate status.
Provide budgets and operations data to support reporting and analytics.
