University of Iowa Health Care – Medical Center North Liberty department of Engineering is seeking an Area Mechanic for 2nd shift. This role entails operating and maintaining buildings and equipment, inspecting systems, and performing skilled repairs.

The 2nd shift schedule is 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays, located at Medical Center North Liberty, IA. The position requires four years of experience in the crafts, with apprenticeship or technical training, and a basic

Qualifications

• Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections of electrical, mechanical, steam and plumbing equipment in assigned areas to determine operating efficiency and locate malfunctions.
• Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions on electrical equipment, appliances, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and HVAC equipment controls.
• Performs preventive maintenance procedures such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and part replacement on electrical, mechanical, plumbing and steam equipment.
• Checks completion of shop work orders and returns them to the appropriate office after work is completed.
• Inspects and reports building problems involving carpentry, painting, roofing, masonry, and plastering to determine corrective methods.
• Maintains effective communication with staff in the assigned area and other shops to support maintenance activities and occupant comfort.
