Job summary

Seeds of Peace Camp seeks a Sous Chef to support the Head Cook, planning and preparing daily meals, ensuring quality, variety, and nutritional standards for the camp. You will supervise kitchen staff with the Head Cook, provide regular task lists, and ensure smooth communication, motivation, and wellbeing within the team, while adapting to schedule changes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in food service.
• Experience in kitchen management is an asset.
• Autonomy, initiative, punctuality and enthusiasm.
• Adhere to camp ethics and community guidelines.
• Must understand and speak French.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory, orders, and purchases of food, sanitary supplies, and related items.
• Minimize waste by maximizing the use and timely conversion of surplus items.
• Complete self-evaluations at the end of each period.
• With Head Cook, supervise kitchen staff and support a healthy work environment.
• Plan and prepare daily meals meeting quality, variety, and nutritional standards.
• Anticipate backup solutions for equipment failure or schedule changes.
• Communicate, motivate and adapt priorities as needed.
• Participate in other tasks and activities as directed by General Management.
