Job summary

Torc Robotics in the United States is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Camera Models to advance camera-based perception for autonomous trucks. You will own development from data curation through deployment, building robust, scalable ML solutions with PyTorch in a distributed setting.

The role requires strong Python and PyTorch, experience with large-scale datasets, and collaboration across perception, data, and infrastructure teams to integrate models into the autonomy stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field relevant to ML/ robotics/vision.
• Experience developing and deploying deep learning models for computer vision or perception systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch with production-quality ML code.
• Experience training and evaluating models on large-scale datasets with distributed compute environments.
• Solid understanding of modern deep learning architectures used in perception (CNNs, transformers, multitask models).
• Experience debugging model behavior, analyzing performance metrics, and improving model reliability.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured ML solutions and deliver independently.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally to integrate ML models into larger autonomy or robotics systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy deep learning models for camera-based perception (object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, scene understanding).
• Own end-to-end model development for scoped areas from data curation to deployment.
• Write production-quality ML code to support scalable training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Analyze model performance across driving scenarios, identify failure modes, improve robustness.
• Contribute to large-scale training pipelines, including dataset preparation and distributed training.
• Collaborate with data teams to improve dataset quality and labeling strategies.
• Evaluate and integrate models into the autonomy stack with perception, simulation, and validation teams.
• Improve tooling, workflows, and infrastructure to accelerate experimentation and iteration.
• Contribute to model architecture decisions and mentorship of junior engineers.
