Verkada Inc. in San Mateo, CA seeks an Engineering Manager for the Camera Firmware Platform to lead storage and embedded systems engineers. You will shape the roadmap, drive performance, reliability, and power efficiency across millions of devices, and partner with product, hardware, and cloud teams.

You will be onsite five days per week at HQ, mentor engineers, and define engineering best practices to accelerate product delivery while maintaining security and quality standards.

Qualifikationen

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience in embedded or systems software.
• 2+ years leading or managing high‑performing systems, storage, platform, or infrastructure teams.
• Experience designing storage systems for high-throughput workloads such as video recording.
• Strong C/C++ systems programming; Go or higher-level languages preferred.
• Hands-on experience profiling and optimizing system‑level performance, memory, and power.
• Experience designing concurrent userspace services and IPC mechanisms.

Aufgaben

• Lead and grow a team of storage, firmware, and systems engineers.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and career development.
• Define the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for camera storage and firmware platform.
• Establish engineering best practices around testing, observability, incident response, and maintenance.
• Own fleet-wide reliability metrics for retention, storage health, crash rates, memory pressure, boot time, and power.
