Job summary

Ironsite in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to own the firmware for our wearable hardware. You will ensure reliable capture, compression, and upload of daily high‑quality first‑person video from rugged job sites, with battery, thermal, and reliability as top firmware priorities.

You’ll collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, and cloud teams from silicon bring‑up to volume production, own the camera pipeline, OTA provisioning, and fleet diagnostics, and help scale

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience shipping embedded firmware on production hardware, with at least one full product lifecycle in wearables, cameras, or IoT devices.
• Deep expertise in C and C++ for embedded systems with constrained resources and power budgets.
• Experience with camera and imaging pipelines, including sensor drivers, ISP tuning, and image quality analysis.
• Strong understanding of ISP blocks: demosaicing, color correction, lens shading, noise reduction, HDR/WDR.
• Hands-on experience with MCUs (STM32, nRF, ESP32) and RTOSs (Zephyr, FreeRTOS).
• Ability to read schematics/datasheets and use lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG).
• Systems thinking from silicon to cloud; equivalent EE/CE background.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware for Ironsite's wearable hardware.
• Develop drivers/libraries for camera, audio, wireless, IMU, sensors.
• Own sensor bring-up from silicon to production release.
• Optimize for memory, compute, thermal and battery constraints.
• Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing and cloud teams to ship devices.
• Design OTA provisioning and fleet update infrastructure.
• Own debugging tools and observability for field devices.
• Support firmware iterations across full product lifecycle.
