Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP in California seeks a 4th to 7th-year associate to join our Chambers-ranked California Projects, Energy, Environment and Resources team. The role focuses on advisory, permitting, and regulatory work across CEQA/NEPA, with a heavy emphasis on energy and infrastructure matters.

You will lead matters, mentor junior team members, and represent sponsors before utilities commissions and courts.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of environmental, land use, or energy regulatory experience at a major Am Law firm or equivalent.
• Deep familiarity with CEQA/NEPA and related natural resource laws.
• Experience representing project sponsors of energy infrastructure projects is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Advise utilities, energy companies, and project developers on regulatory approvals (CEQA/NEPA, FLMPA, NFMA, OCSLA).
• Represent clients before regulatory bodies (CPUC, CEC, BOEM, CCC, CLSC) and local authorities.
• Defend project approvals in federal/state courts and manage environmental litigation.
• Provide due diligence and transactional support on energy/infrastructure deals.
