Job summary

April Quest is seeking a Test & Calibration Technician to join its Detroit office. You will perform testing, calibration, configuration and basic fault finding on high-end navigation and positioning systems used in autonomous vehicles and geospatial engineering.

You will own the process of customer returns (RMA) from receipt through dispatch, logging equipment and following established procedures with careful attention to detail, using hand tools and standard test equipment.

Qualifications

  • A practical service, test or technical background with mechanical, electrical or electronic products.
  • Hands-on fault-finding, testing, calibration or configuration experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A systematic approach to managing technical equipment and customer returns.

Responsibilities

  • Testing, calibrating and configuring sophisticated technical equipment
  • Carrying out basic fault finding and escalating more complex technical issues
  • Managing customer returns and the RMA process from receipt through to dispatch
  • Connecting equipment to PCs and using technical software for testing and configuration
  • Using hand tools and test equipment such as temperature meters, frequency meters and multimeters
  • Following established test, calibration and technical procedures
  • Accurately logging, tracking and documenting equipment throughout the process

Job description

We’re recruiting a Test & Calibration Technician to join an innovative, industry-leading technology company developing high-end navigation and positioning systems used across autonomous vehicles, geospatial mapping, surveying, aerospace, drones and robotics.

Working from the company’s Detroit office, you’ll join a small technical support team and take ownership of products returning from customers in the field. This is a practical, hands-on role involving testing, calibration, configuration and basic fault finding, ensuring equipment is operating correctly before being returned to the customer.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Testing, calibrating and configuring sophisticated technical equipment
  • Carrying out basic fault finding and escalating more complex technical issues
  • Managing customer returns and the RMA process from receipt through to dispatch
  • Connecting equipment to PCs and using technical software for testing and configuration
  • Using hand tools and test equipment such as temperature meters, frequency meters and multimeters
  • Following established test, calibration and technical procedures
  • Accurately logging, tracking and documenting equipment throughout the process
What we’re looking for:
  • A practical service, test or technical background working with mechanical, electrical or electronic products
  • Hands-on fault-finding, testing, calibration or configuration experience
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • A systematic approach to managing technical equipment and customer returns
  • Confidence using manual hand tools and working directly with hardware
  • Good basic IT/software skills
  • The ability to follow written technical procedures accurately
It would be great if you also have experience in:
  • Electronics testing, calibration or hardware support
  • RMA/customer returns and diagnosing returned equipment
  • Automotive or vehicle testing
  • Electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Customer-facing technical support or 1st-line support
