Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items. You will use artistic skills to finish high-quality bakery goods while delivering outstanding service in a fast-paced store setting.

You will follow recipes, maintain cleanliness, support apprentices and team members, and help meet quality standards and food safety requirements. A retail bakery background and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient cake and pastry decorating with intermediate piping techniques.
• Understanding of color theory for buttercream and palette coordination.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Strong math skills for recipe conversions and portion control.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced bakery.
• Commitment to food safety, cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items.
• Build, ice and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet demand.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Showcase products in display cases and ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create custom order cake designs per customer specifications.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and assist customers with requests.
