Qualifications

• Minimum: any retail experience.
• Bakery/cake decorating experience required.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Effective communication skills.
• Second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions with recommendations.
• Offer samples and assist with bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests.
• Recommend bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Check product quality, monitor dates, and operate bakery equipment per guidelines.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
• Monitor inventory and note discrepancies.
• Follow health, safety and all applicable regulations.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Report safety risks or illegal activities to management.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
