Job summary

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products in the bakery and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of bakery items and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer product samples and prepare bakery items like wedding cakes using proper bakery equipment.
• Recommend bakery items to help customers find what they want and need.
• Check product quality for freshness, review sell-by dates, and operate bakery equipment per guidelines.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products on request; stay aware of ads and promotions.
• Maintain inventory awareness and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to health, safety, and civil code regulations.
• Follow safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Report safety risks and incidents, including theft or fraud, to management.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
