Whole Foods Market IP. L.P. in Metairie, LA is hiring a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders with artistic attention to detail.

You’ll help ensure quality, service, and consistency across bakery items. You will support Apprentices and teammates, follow food safety procedures, and assist with production planning to meet demand while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills with intermediate piping techniques.
• Understand color theory for blending buttercream colors.
• Ability to apply proper icing techniques for various icings.
• Follow recipes, directions and procedures; manage time effectively.
• Advanced knife handling and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures to meet business demand; complete production records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case; ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers promptly and courteously.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment; follow safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and ensure signage and pricing accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
