Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items, applying artistic skills to ensure high-quality finishes.

You will work in a fast-paced retail bakery, follow safety procedures, assist Apprentices, and deliver friendly, knowledgeable service to customers.

The role requires physical stamina, flexibility to work nights and weekends, and the ability to manage multiple orders with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Color theory for buttercream colors and palettes.
• Proper icing technique with various icings.
• Follow recipes, directions and procedures; manage time well.
• Advanced knife handling and safety.
• Basic math for recipe conversions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures to meet business demand.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case and monitor freshness.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
