Reports To

Management Staff and Shift Leaders (Direct report to Cake Manager, if applicable)

Purpose Of Job

Assemble and prepare soft serve and Blizzard cakes (or ready-to-decorate cakes), including decorating with icing, gel, drawings, decorating kits, airbrush, edible images, and letterings. Ensure all cake products meet Dairy Queen standards of quality and excellence. May be required to meet requirements of other staff positions.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and decorate cake products according to customer specifications and standards.
• Operate and maintain cake and soft serve equipment safely, following health standards.
• Maintain inventory of decorated cakes, including backup cakes during peak times.
• Keep display freezer stocked attractively.
• Conduct sampling and actively sell products.
• Take and fill customer cake orders professionally and promptly.
• Provide excellent customer service, being pleasant and alert to needs.
• Work as a team to ensure quality, service, cleanliness, and value.
• Clean and organize work area, stock needed items, and ensure proper product rotation.
• Maintain cleanliness of production area and equipment using PRIDE checklist.
• Perform cleaning tasks including counters, restrooms, trash removal, sweeping, and mopping.
• Report problems to management promptly.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Accountability

Decorate cakes according to specifications, operate the cake production area following standards, and contribute to guest satisfaction through quality and service. Maintain positive relationships with staff and customers, and communicate significant issues to management.

Qualification Standards

Exceptional decorating skills with a portfolio; cake decorator certification preferred. Ability to work in varying temperatures, handle soft serve ice cream, and perform under pressure. Must stand long hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and follow food safety procedures. Excellent customer service, good manners, hygiene, and a positive attitude required.
