Job summary

EdAdvance is seeking a General Cafeteria Worker to join the Region 12 school food service program. You will be part of a team providing healthy, compliant lunches to students, under supervision of the Food Service Director in Operations.

The position is part-time, academic calendar-based, with 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday, and an anticipated start date in late August 2026. EdAdvance offers flexible schedules and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Food service or catering experience a plus.
  • Ability to operate and care for institutional/industrial equipment.
  • Ability to drive and deliver food.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and keep accurate records as directed.
  • Requires working independently and as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food which may involve basic cooking and serving to students.
  • Deliver meals to district Elementary Schools with EdAdvance vehicle.
  • Follow sanitation and health codes governing food preparation and personal appearance.
  • Work with hot ovens, sharp tools, slippery floors, and some heavy lifting.
  • General knowledge of food and nutrition preferred.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

The General Cafeteria Worker works under the supervision of the Food Service Director in the Division of Operations and reports to the kitchen manager or team leader.

This position is a part time academic calendar position. 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Position Description

The General Cafeteria Worker will be working for EdAdvance in a food service program that provides quality meals to students at Region 12. You will be part of a team that provides healthy, compliant lunches to students.

Major Responsibilities
  • Tasks include preparing food which may involve basic cooking, serving food to students, cleaning kitchen equipment and putting away stock / deliveries.
  • Ability to drive and deliver meals to district Elementary Schools with EdAdvance vehicle.
  • Follows all sanitation and health codes governing food preparation and personal appearance
  • Works with hot ovens, sharp tools, slippery floors, and some heavy lifting
  • General knowledge of food and nutrition preferred
  • Other duties as may be assigned

  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
Physical Requirements
  • Moves and lifts equipment weighting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to drive EdAdvance vehicle
  • Moves throughout the school kitchen to prepare food and perform other duties.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts
