Job summary

Regis Corporation in Somerdale, NJ seeks a Food Service Worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a friendly, clean cafeteria environment. You will assist with meal prep, menus, and daily operations, while ensuring accurate records and positive customer interactions.

The role requires teamwork, adherence to procedures, and ability to stand for extended periods. Prior food service experience is a plus and a state background check is required.

Qualifications

• All Food Service Workers must pass the state-required background check and fingerprinting to work in NJ schools.
• Previous experience in food service is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of meals and the setup of the cafeteria.
• Checks with Kitchen Manager for daily preparation work assignments.
• Assists in the preparation of daily menus.
• Assists in the set up of napkins, serving utensils, student lunch trays and condiments.
• Sets up daily snacks on the cafeteria line.
• Assists in checking food shipments into the school, signing invoices after verification.
• Assists in determining the amount of each food to be prepared daily.
• Serves students nutritious, attractive meals in a friendly manner.
• Works on a rotating basis in the kitchen and on the register as directed by the Food Service Director/Assistant Food Service Director.
• Serves food using appropriate portion sizes as directed by the production sheet.
• Promotes a friendly atmosphere for customers through positive customer service.
• Completes general housekeeping duties to maintain cafeteria cleanliness.
• Keeps serving line clean and replenishes between lunch periods.
• Checks storage of leftovers with Kitchen Manager.
• Cleans and sanitizes working area at end of day.
• Completes records, paperwork and other administrative tasks accurately and timely.
• Inputs prepayment and daily sales; posts deposits.
• Backs up computer daily.
• Maintains student records in Point of Sale if applicable.
• Completes daily, weekly and monthly POS reports if required.
• Communicates with parents about student accounts via phone/letters.
• Counts and verifies daily deposits.
• Assists in inventorying and ordering with Kitchen Manager and submits orders daily.
• Completes daily production sheet.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
