OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled, dedicated, and passionate culinary professional for the position of Cafeteria Cook. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for a workforce of approximately 350 employees. The successful candidate will ensure consistent, high-quality food preparation and adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-volume cafeteria environment, contributing to the well-being and satisfaction of our employees.

JOB SUMMARY
The Cafeteria Cook will oversee daily food preparation and service, ensuring that meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and align with dietary needs and preferences. You will work in a fast-paced environment, managing various kitchen stations, preparing food in large quantities, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a similar role, ideally in high-volume food service, and must be comfortable working independently and in a team setting.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

This is a full-time role, and candidates must have flexible availability, including early mornings and weekends.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in Culinary Arts or relevant certification is preferred.

Experience:
Must have at least one (1) or more years of related culinary experience in high-volume food service. Previous experience in a cafeteria or institutional setting is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities for the Cafeteria Cook include but are not limited to:

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook large quantities of food following established recipes, ensuring meals are ready for scheduled serving times.
  • Station Setup: Complete daily prep responsibilities, ensuring all food stations are properly set up and stocked for service.
  • Food Quality: Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring all meals meet the required standards. Make adjustments as necessary based on feedback or specific dietary requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with the kitchen supervisor to order ingredients, monitor inventory levels, and ensure proper food storage practices.
  • Sanitation: Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment, following all health and safety guidelines. Clean kitchen equipment and workstations at the end of each shift.
  • Multi-Tasking: Efficiently manage multiple tasks during peak service times, ensuring smooth and timely meal delivery to employees.
  • Temperature Control: Follow established procedures for cooking, cooling, and storing food, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cafeteria staff and supervisors to ensure efficient service and address any employee requests or concerns regarding meals.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Cafeteria Supervisor or Manager.


Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to fulfilling key responsibilities, candidates must possess a combination of the following skills and experience:

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with diverse employee groups.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to menu changes and requests as needed.
