Job summary

New General Café & Coffee Bar in Winter Park, FL seeks a Front of House Lead to elevate guest experiences while guiding daily FOH operations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned barista who leads by example in a fast-paced cafe environment.

You will train and coach team members, monitor service flow and ticket times, uphold safety standards, and ensure consistency in beverage quality from espresso to service. Availability mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of specialty coffee or café experience required.
  • Proficient, seasoned barista with strong espresso and milk steaming skills.
  • 1+ year of leadership or management experience in a café, coffee shop, or restaurant.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead independently, multitask effectively, and perform well under pressure.
  • Passion for hospitality, quality ingredients, and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Position Overview

The Front of House Lead is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while leading daily front-of-house operations. This role is ideal for an experienced barista and natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced café environment, leads by example, and is committed to hospitality, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
  • Lead and support the FOH team to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations.
  • Delegate tasks, coach team members, and maintain accountability throughout each shift.
  • Monitor service flow, ticket times, staffing, and guest satisfaction.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and create positive customer experiences.
Coffee & Product Quality
  • Prepare espresso beverages and café drinks to New General's quality standards.
  • Train and coach team members on recipes, beverage preparation, and service standards.
  • Ensure consistency in product quality, presentation, and execution.
  • Maintain an organized, stocked, and efficient bar throughout the shift.
Team & Culture
  • Lead by example with professionalism, urgency, and a positive attitude.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and hospitality.
  • Communicate operational needs, inventory concerns, and guest feedback with management.
  • Support the onboarding and ongoing development of FOH team members.
Operations & Standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe café environment.
  • Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, and operational checklists are completed.
  • Assist with inventory management, waste reduction, and daily cash handling.
  • Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and company standards.
